Ewing Miller II
Ewing Miller II
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Ewing Miller II, FAIA passed away at home in Washington DC after nearly a year struggling against an increasingly dysfunctional heart. As he said "dying is damn difficult." But he died as he lived, with dignity.

Ewing was a thoughtful man, a remarkable architect and a dear friend, respected and beloved by many. He will be buried at Arlington Cemetery at a time assigned.

Ewing Miller II, FAIA, received the AIA Indiana Gold Medal Award in 2013, the highest honor AIA Indiana bestows on an individual and is given to recognize accomplishments in promoting the aesthetic, scientific and practical excellence of architecture. Miller, followed in his father’s and uncle’s footsteps working at Johnson, Miller & Miller, an architecture firm founded in 1910 in Brazil, Ind. Miller, a former World War II pilot and Prisoner of War, was a leader in design of educational and religious facilities. He and his firm helped shape campuses at Indiana State, Wabash College and University of Evansville. Working with a psychologist and sociologists, they studied how people responded to buildings, work that earned Miller entrance into the prestigious College of Fellows.
