ICRI Announces 2019 Project of the Year and Awards of Excellence Winners

Napa Valley Courthouse
Napa Valley Courthouse
SAINT PAUL, MN — The International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) announces the winners of its 2019 Project Awards. The Ile-aux-Tourtes Bridge Rehabilitation was chosen as the ICRI 2019 Project of the Year. This year, three finalists were chosen, and the winner was announced at an awards ceremony.

ICRI awarded seven additional 2019 Awards of Excellence and seven Awards of Merit. The following projects won awards in the California Builder & Engineer area:
Historic Category: Napa Valley Courthouse, Project of the Year Finalist
This Napa, California-based project was submitted by PULLMAN. The courthouse underwent extensive damage after a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the region in 2014. To upgrade the structure for seismic conditions in the event of another earthquake, all unreinforced masonry was repaired using a fabric-reinforced cementitious matrix. By understanding the sensitive nature of historic restoration, the Napa Valley Courthouse project team was able to create a repair program that maintained the structure’s historical integrity while meeting the modern day needs of the community. The project was completed in early 2019 with zero workplace incidents.
Longevity Category: Lake Merritt Boathouse – 10 Years Later
This Oakland, California-based project was submitted by Sika Corporation. Severe corrosion problems and structural deficiencies were uncovered once excavation began and the substructure of the boathouse was exposed in 2006. Plans and specifications were developed, and the repair contractor started excavating and completed the repairs in September 2007. The project was awarded LEED Gold certification.

ICRI, a nonprofit association with more than 2,400 members worldwide, is a resource for education and information to improve the quality of repair, restoration and protection of concrete and other structures in accordance with consensus criteria.
