Louisiana DOTD Provides Update on $78M Interstate 10 Project in Acadiana Region

LAFAYETTE, LA — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that work is continually progressing on a $78 million project to mill and overlay a 37.22-mile section of I-10 from the Jefferson Davis/Acadia Parish Line to I-49 in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.

The contractor, Gilchrist Construction, has completed installing wearing asphalt on the mainline of I-10. Currently, crews are working on guardrail aprons and installing guardrails on the westbound outside lane from Exit 92 (Mire/Duson) to Exit 80 (Eunice/Crowley). Once guardrail work is complete for the westbound section, the contractor will transition to the eastbound section of I-10 to perform guardrail work.

Later in the project, open-graded friction course (OGFC) will be placed as a final course through the entire project. OGFC is a surface course consisting of a mix of an asphalt binder and open-graded aggregate. The application of OGFC will aid in enhancing safety, especially during wet weather conditions.

This project is estimated for completion in fall 2025.
