SAN MARCOS, TX — The Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University announces the appointment of Ryan Penlerick, MA, CPC as the new Director of the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Program. Penlerick brings a wealth of industry experience to the position, having worked for, and owned, multiple construction and concrete companies over a period of more than 23 years.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Colorado State University and a Master of Arts in higher education administration from the University of Nebraska, as well as holding a certification as a Certified Professional Constructor (CPC) from the American Institute of Constructors. Penlerick has been a member of Texas State University for two years, having taught undergraduate coursework in the Construction Science and Management program since 2020.

“I am very excited to be joining the Department of Engineering Technology as the CIM Program Director,” Penlerick said. “I believe the CIM Program is a fantastic model of a curriculum that best delivers on the needs of [the] industry, which gives our graduates an immediate opportunity for success. The CIM Program is unique in its approach and provides a breadth of knowledge in business and construction principles, as well as how to apply those principles to the concrete industry specifically.”

The Concrete Industry Management degree program is a hands-on technology discipline that prepares students for a wide range of technical and managerial careers in the concrete and related industries. Texas State is one of five universities in the nation to offer this degree program. The CIM Program at Texas State is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering. The goal of this industry-driven program is to produce broadly educated, articulate graduates who are grounded in basic construction management, knowledgeable in concrete technology and techniques, and able to manage people and systems to promote products and services related to the concrete industry.
