Christenson, an expert in biological wastewater treatment, biofilm treatment technologies, nutrient removal, wastewater reuse, anaerobic digestion, energy analysis, and greenhouse gas assessments, has been recognized for his contributions to the industry. His accolades include the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT) Workforce Development Award, and the WEAT President’s Service Award, and he was named to the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists 40 Under 40 program.
He has held significant leadership roles in WEAT as the President of the WEAT SE Section and Vice President at the state level. Additionally, he co-founded a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship program for water and wastewater plant operators in Texas.
Christenson’s project experience includes mitigating disasters for wastewater facilities affected by Hurricane Harvey, overseeing pilot testing of a new ceramic membrane for California Title 22 assessment, and advancing wastewater treatment resiliency and sustainability in response to climate change.

He holds a Ph.D. and a master's degree in civil engineering, both from Texas Tech University. In addition, he has a Master of Arts in education and a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies, mathematics from Vanguard University of Southern California.
As Garver's Wastewater Treatment Business Development Leader for Texas, Christenson will continue his work developing and implementing effective, sustainable wastewater treatment strategies.
