Balfour Beatty U.S. Buildings Celebrates 20 Years of Building Austin and Central Texas

AUSTIN, TX — This year, Balfour Beatty’s U.S. Buildings team announces its 20th anniversary of providing construction management services to Austin and Central Texas clients. This celebration marks two decades of service to one of the fastest-growing cities in America and the company’s role in delivering construction needs to the Texas economy.

“Austin has been a great market for Balfour Beatty for the past 20 years,” said Pleas Mitchell, Division President for Texas U.S. Buildings operations. “This region is experiencing tremendous growth, which makes for an exciting time for our company and our partners. It is our commitment to work sustainably with our clients to take advantage of the significant economic growth in Texas and serve the local communities where we live and work.”

Balfour Beatty’s U.S. Building team has been serving construction clients in the Austin and Central Texas region since 2020. A leader in construction management, the company has worked in a variety of market sectors including corporate, commercial, educational, and tenant finish-out.

Recently, the company partnered with the Texas Facilities Commision (TFC) on the Capitol Complex Project, a $900-million effort to create a destination that celebrates the capitol and centralizes all state agencies. The project consists of the construction of the Central Utility Plant, the George H.W. Bush State Office Building, 601 Congress State Office Buildng, and the North Congress Pedestrian Mall. Balfour Beatty serves as the construction manager agent and is overseeing the effort with Page, an architecture and engineering firm, on behalf of the TFC.

Other recent projects include Austin Independent School District’s new headquarters and the reconstruction of three residential towers in the Austin skyline: The Austonian, The Independent, and Northshore.

“Balfour Beatty is honored to work in the growing Austin and Central Texas economy,” Mitchell said. “We look forward to supporting the development of this community through construction management and volunteerism for the next 20 years.”
